I always thought photography – that's not for me.
It’s a technical craft, a level of nerdiness I just never had.
And I remember the acidic smell of black-and-white developer and the cocky atmosphere around that course at university.

But looking back at my photos… I wonder why I never considered it.

My friend Jasper showed me how to see the world — a fun, dirty, crop-able experience.

Last year I bought a white mercedes 190E. All my friends said: Why do you need a car in Berlin? Clearly irritated (even if in a fun sense) about my decision.

My answer: I’m a car lover. Always had been. It’s just coming out this way.

As a kid I learned all the model names: Kadett, Xantia, Civic, Colt, Polo, R4, Cinquecento …
It gave me a cosy feeling — a sense of orientation and familiarity. Carfriends.

Thinking about it now:
I went from a white Micra to a white Mercedes.
"White Ferrari, good times."

I started taking photos of cars since my benz purchase. Because once I owned an old-timer and that itch was scratched,
my eyes started noticing the beauty of new cars too – cocky, aerodynamic.
So I began taking pictures not just of Volvos and Saabs but of AMGs and even *ahem* Teslas.

I love NK because the big streets — Karl-Marx-Straße, Hermannstraße, Sonnenallee — flow like rivers.
And the car sounds are the shore. I love watching them pass by. Carspotting.

Connecting over cars is a beautiful thing.

So… do you remember Haw-lin in 2013 (around that time)?
I saw adverts for it above U7 tracks at Hermannplatz.
Haw-lin was something I never really understood but it gave me hope that you don’t have to compromise and focus on just one skill or interest. Curating life can also be an art form.
